International Business: Investment Success Knows No Borders
For more than 30 years, Michael Luzich has established a reputation as a successful entrepreneur and international investor.
As the founder of Las Vegas-based Luzich Partners LLC, a multi-strategy investment firm, Mr. Luzich possesses an impressive business background spanning multiple verticals. Under his direction, Luzich Partners currently focuses on public and private equity, real estate development and event-driven investments, including spin-offs, distressed asset sales and reorganizations.
Prior to forming Luzich Partners, Mr. Luzich founded Peninsula Gaming Partners LLC, the largest privately-owned casino company in America, including the nation’s largest horse track, stabling over 1,000 thoroughbred racehorses.
Through acquisitions and the development of four greenfield gaming properties, Peninsula Gaming grew exponentially. By 2012, the company produced approximately $205 million of EBITDA. In November 2012, the company was sold for $1.45 billion, plus an earn out. When the deal was completed, Peninsula’s equity investors achieved a return of over 100 times their initial investment.
Prior to commencing his career as an international investor, Mr. Luzich attended Marquette University and the Harvard Business School OPM Program.
Given his business acumen, Mr. Luzich recognized the multitude of opportunities presented by global investment and established a successful international trading firm. His international projects spanned the globe including the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. In addition to his international investments in operating companies, he also pursued real estate development opportunities worldwide.
Mr. Luzich also has investments in thirteen portfolio companies in China as well as investments, and direct ownership, in numerous mining companies worldwide including in Chile, where his firm invested in the largest copper processing company in the world.
Noting the investment opportunities presented by the mining sector, Mr. Luzich is actively involved with additional mining operations in Canada, focused primarily on barite, silver, gold, lead, and zinc.
Mr. Luzich’s other investment activities include various technology companies, including the world’s leading 3D imaging company located in Oxford, England, the leading energy storage company in the world and the leading telemedicine company in Brazil. He is also part of a consortium constructing the longest fiber optic cable project in the world, originating in Singapore and terminating in the United States.
Most recently, Michael Luzich and Luzich Partners acquired Buchans-based Barite Mud Services, a company that extracts and concentrates barite. Through this successful international business deal, Michael Luzich and other industry leaders are now directors of Barite Mud Services and look forward to furthering the organization’s success.
